High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) directly delivers heat energy to the skin and subcutaneous tissue that can stimulate and renew the skin’s collagen and therefore improving the texture and reducing sagging and drooping of the skin. It literally achieves the results of a facelift without any invasive type of surgery or injections; an added bonus of this procedure is that there is no downtime. This technique can be applied to the face as well as other parts of the body, and also, it works equally well for people of all skin colours, in contrast to that of lasers and the intense pulse lights.
The treatment uses 2 different size headpieces. The 3mm headpiece is used for transmitting a high frequency of 8 MHZ focused ultrasound energy into the dermis layer of the skin tissue, the ultrasound penetrates the skin to a depth of 3.0mm and is responsible for activating the skin’s dermal layer of collagen, effectively promoting the reduction and the appearance of wrinkles.
The second head is a 4.5mm headpiece which is used to transmit high-energy focused ultrasound to the skin and subcutaneous tissue, the ultrasound penetrates the skin to a depth of 4.5mm which is known as the SMAS (Superficial muscular aponeurotic system) layer, forming “heat coagulation” and is applied to thicker areas of the skin, such as cheeks, etc.
Each treatments takes approximately 45 minutes, but may be performed within 30 minutes. Some patients report feeling a slight prickling or heat under the skin.
The HIFU skin-tightening procedure is usually performed using a smooth hand piece that delivers highly focused ultrasound energy that safely heats up the subcutaneous layer at designated depth. Most clients will need only one session. Results will appear over 2 to 3 months or even up to 6 months following treatment. Your body will continue to produce fresh collagen over the course of the next year. You can have repeat top up treatments should you require them.
